Recently, Ayesha was seen gracing the Women of India summit by Mojo Story. During the interaction at the event, Ayesha revealed that she faced trolling due to her ‘worked during periods’ statement. She mentioned that it was unfortunate that nowadays whatever a person does or says, everything becomes a joke. She highlighted how her statement about being on periods during the shooting of the Shararat song became a national joke. She added that it’s high time to educate men about periods. She was quoted as saying:
“It’s unfortunate that whatever you do or say these days, everything is a joke, dark humour, and fun. It’s a good thing that you can laugh about everything. But to laugh at anything and everything isn’t exactly fun. I probably didn’t even realise it because it’s so normal for me. Every month, we go through this cycle. We do so many things when we’re on our periods. Me being on periods had suddenly become a national joke. We really need to educate our sons and brothers. I’m sure the jokes were from men. It was really bad.”
