Her comments about dropping her baby added more layers to the ongoing controversy surrounding the University of Michigan football program and the downfall of Sherrone Moore. Paige recollected how the doctors had shown her the medical complications she could have due to her pregnancy. Paige Shiver mentioned that complications in her pregnancy came up because of the rare genetic disorder she has, linked to Pompe Disease. On the ABC News segment, she revealed how the doctors had told her that it would not at all be the right thing to keep her baby. In her words:
