Surrogate McKenna West, a nurse from Alaska, has been grabbing attention. McKenna agreed to carry and deliver a baby for an LA-based couple, Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed. During the surrogacy agreement, McKenna was presented with a clause that allowed the biological parents to choose to terminate the pregnancy if any ‘anomaly’ was found.
While still a fetus, the baby was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which is a rare birth condition in which the left side of the heart doesn’t fully grow. After the diagnosis, the biological parents asked McKenna to have an abortion, which she refused; she moved to Texas and gave birth to a baby boy there. She named him Gabriel, who was soon taken to the NICU for further treatment.

However, it’s the biological parents who filed a temporary restraining order against McKenna before the child was even born.
